An upset Lovie Smith

The Bears’ dim postseason hopes essentially were extinguished with last night’s 24-16 loss to the Redskins at FedEx Field.  Brian Griese was pressed into service after quarterback Rex Grossman suffered a knee injury in the first quarter.  He had completed just 2-of-6 passes for 14 yards before having to leave the game.  Griese finished 27-of-45 for 295 yards with two picks and a touchdown strike to Bernard Berrian.  Berrian led the receiving corps with seven catches for 91 yards and Adrian Peterson rushed 17 times for 35 yards.  The Bears play at Minnesota on Monday the 17th.
