Bears Banter Off-Season Edition Vol. 1

bears-tunnel.jpg Editor Russ Loede talks about what’s next on schedule for the Windy City Soldiers with Columnist Eric Cook:

1. What do you think about the upcoming off-season for our Chicago BEARS?

I am excited for the upcoming season, I still feel we have a good defense and with a safety and a couple of healthy d-linemen (oh, our corners need to stay healthty) we can be a top 5 defense again.

2. How about the moves we are making now?

I like the resigning of Alex Brown, I believe he is better in the starting spot than Mark Anderson. Mark is a speed and finesse rusher and that often leaves him past the quarterback and entirely out of the play, Alex is a power rusher and leaves him in the play to knock down passes and play the run. I think it was time for Moose to go to, he was entirely too slow, and I think maybe just a little frustrated with his role on the team. Fred Miller was a bit less expected, but everyone knows we need to upgrade the o-line, move Tait back to right tackle, and draft a left in the first round and SIGN FANECA!

Darwin Walker was a surprise but I suppose with Dvoracek and Adams and that guy we signed Toeaina maybe we have something there, oh and Idonije!

3. What should we do NEXT?

I answered that about Faneca and moving Tait back to the right side, also I am not sure but what about looking to get Dwight Smith on the cheap end if that’s possible, you can never have too many safeties as we saw this last year.

4. Any MAJOR Changes?

Get rid of Rex unless he signs for a uniform and a playbook.

5. BEARS Should ADDRESS which NEED 1st?

O-Line, then Safety, then Running Back and Wideout – Both RB and WR our big needs.
6. Is the QB situation going to be any different?

I certainly hope so, Orton as a starter proved he could chuck it downfield when needed and he won’t give the game away. Also draft for the future.
7. Who is going to are Starting RB in ’08?

I hope ADRIAN PETERSON or someone else – Benson is pitiful. I don’t want a runningback who needs someone nipping at his heels to be motivated, yes our o-line stunk, but he runs with no passion.
