Team Still Searching For Potential Franchise QB: With Rex Grossman and Kyle Orton set to battle it out for the short term starting gig, what round in the draft should we realistically look to address the position to ensure our long term success?

Becoming The Next Starter: Consider this, most QB’s usually take at least three years to develop so using a first or second round pick will not give us a return on that investment until 2011. For that reason we need to resist the temptation to reach for a signal caller until round three, where we could pick from the likes of Andre Woodson (Kentucky), Joshua Johnson (San Diego) or John David Booty (USC). My personal choice for a developmental prospect is San Diego State Aztec Kevin O’Connell, a 6-foot 5 athletic QB who has all the tools to develop into a good pro QB. According to a few sources the West Coast phenomenon is rapidly moving up draft boards but I think he should still be there for the taking with our 4th round pick (110th).
