Benson To Report At Halas Hall Today

Troubled Bears’ running back Cedric Benson will show up at team headquarters today for what might be his final Halas Hall appearance as a Bear.  Benson told the “Chicago Tribune” last night that he would show up for “organized team activities.”  He would not discuss his early Saturday arrest in Austin, Texas for driving while intoxicated.  Benson’s attorney tells the paper his client was not impaired, and will fight the charge.  WMAQ 5 reports on its website that Benson sent one of the station’s reporters a text message saying he “aced” the field sobriety test, and that an as-yet unreleased police videotape will prove it.  The arrest came just over a month after Texas authorities arrested Benson for boating while intoxicated and resisting arrest.  Saturday, Bears’ General Manager Jerry Angelo said he would wait to hear all sides of the story before making any decisions about Benson’s future with the team.
