Hester the Holdout
Posted by CJ on July 23rd, 2008 in News

Bears training camp has opened and the electrifying Devin Hester is a no show. Hester is still under his rookie contract where he is only averaging $500,000 over the remaining 2 years. Devin was supposed to enter camp as not only the ultimate return man but as a starting wide receiver. Without a new contract that will pay him starters money, i doubt that Hester will report to camp…which places the already struggling Bears offense without their biggest playmaker. I can see an extension being put in place before the end of the week so that the Bears can get moving back in the right direction.

He’s back, according to SI, though no word yet on whether a deal was reached.
Meanwhile, it’s important that he returned. As much for himself as the team. This was a bush-league, prima dona move, but he’s a youngin’, so it’s forgiveable.
