Bears to Not Raise Ticket Prices in 2009

The Bears are going to not raise ticket prices for the 2009 season. Here is an update from today’s Chicago Sun-Times:

In a staggering economy, the Bears have decided to freeze ticket prices for 2009. But team president Ted Phillips promised Thursday that the freeze would not affect football operations or the Bears’ ability to pursue free agents. This marks the first time since after the 2000 season that the Bears have not hiked ticket prices in at least some form. “Frankly, it’s really no more complicated than taking a look at the very challenging economic environment that every fan, every person in America is facing,” Phillips said of the team’s decision “It’s not just a down economic year, it’s an unprecedented situation that has huge impact on every citizen, and we felt for that reason it was the right thing to do.”
