190th Al Afalava 5′-11″ 213 lb SS/FS from Oregon State. He played a lot in the box as a SS but the Bears feel that he could become a FS for the team. He has the tools with a 4.48 40 time, 40 in. vertical, and a 10′-5″ long jump. Al has had experience at both positions and will be a contributor on ST.

246th Lance Louis 6′-2″ 303 lb TE/RG from San Diego state. A knee injury forced him into a reserve role at RG but he does have experience at TE. I like the thought of using him in the Red Zone on running plays. Another thing they will likely do is line him up at fullback like they did with Olsen last year.

251st Derk Kinder 6′-1″ 210 lb WR from Pittsburgh. He had an ACL injury that kept him out for all of 2007. I think the biggest draw for the Bears was his blocking ability on ST’s. That’s something that was missing last year when Hester fell off with the returns.

I would have to admit that the Bears did a good job with the draft. They got a lot of players that should help fill some of the needs that were pilling up this offseason.

As a side not, what in the world happened to Duke Robinson? He was projected on a lot of boards to be a second or third round pick. I know the guy put on a few extra pounds which was likely the cause of the false starts but 163rd? Guess it’s a good thing my mortgage doesn’t depend on my predictions.
