Martz Ready to Right the Ship?

The Chicago Sun Times is reporting that the very bad Bears offense very well may turn to former Rams head coach Mike Martz to help out and get things going.

A source close to former St.Louis Rams coach Mike Martz, most recently the San Francisco 49ers’ offensive coordinator last season, said the architect of The Greatest Show on Turf might finally be headed to Chicago. Martz — infamously slated to be the offensive coordinator for Dave McGinnis before Michael McCaskey fouled up McGinnis’ hiring in 1999 and Dick Jauron came to town — is an out-of-work coach serving as an analyst for NFL Network and surveying where he might land next. How about with the Bears, as coach Lovie Smith’s coordinator? ”Martz would love to work with Jay Cutler,” said the source, who cited the close relationship between Smith and Martz in sharing the information.

They need to pass on Martz and go after Mariucci. He should be the Offensive Coordinator only. If not him, buy out Lovie and get Cowher to right the “whole ship.”

“They need to pass on Martz and go after Mariucci.” That is insane on so many levels. Bring in a guy who has loser written all over him. Martz is a passing coordinator who knows how to coach Gunslingers and thats what Cutler is, Martz is a perfect match for Cutler plain and simple.
