OT Pace Undecided About Returning Next Year

The Chicago Tribune reports that OT Orlando Pace isn’t sure about if he’ll come back next season or not:

Orlando Pace hasn’t complained a peep since being moved into a backup role at left tackle for first-round draft pick Chris Williams, and the future Pro Football Hall of Fame candidate will serve as the third tackle Sunday at Detroit in what could be his final NFL game. “After the season I will re-evaluate and see how I feel, if it makes sense (to return in 2010), and if I even want to play,” Pace said after practice Friday. Pace, a seven-time Pro Bowl selection, injured his groin muscle Nov. 29 at Minnesota and was inactive for three games before dressing but not playing Monday night and returning as a backup and insurance plan to Williams might not interest him. “I miss playing. I’m a player. I’ve been playing for a while so this is an adjustment for me,” he said. “That’s why I said I really have to re-evaluate what I want to do as far as my career goes. It’s just one of those things. I understand the situation.” If Pace decides to walk away, the Bears will have to find a swing tackle and James Marten, recently promoted from the practice squad, is a candidate.
