Angelo Not All That High on Mike Martz?

The Sun-Times throws out the latest on Mike Martz talking to the Bears, saying that it appears that Jerry Angelo isn’t all that big of a fan:

Mike Martz met with quarterback Jay Cutler in Nashville, Tenn., on Saturday, presumably to convince the Bears’ quarterback that they could make beautiful music together. Vikings quarterbacks coach Kevin Rogers remains a strong candidate after impressing many within the organization, even though sources claim Martz is coach Lovie Smith’s top choice. Another source called the process ”complicated,” fanning speculation that there might be a level of disagreement between Smith and general manager Jerry Angelo on the subject of Martz.

  1. Chris Cook says:

Angelo obviously supported or agreed to the hiring of a couple of ex-head coaches in Marinelli and Tice that did not have much success. But now he doesn’t support a Super Bowl ex-head coach hire? Angelo evaluates coaches about as well as he does player talent in the first few rounds of the draft. If Angelo doesn’t like Martz, then sign him NOW.
