An extremely premature preview of the Bears 2010 schedule

Some time in the next week, the NFL will announce its television lineup for the opening weekend. The season will officially begin on a Thursday night, where the champion Saints will host a team (possibly vs. the Vikes) in the Superdome. Then of course you have your Sunday and Monday night tilts. Last year, the Bears and Pack opened the Sunday night schedule…and reintroduced the world to Chris Collinsworth, who replaced John Madden on Sunday night.

Brad Biggs at the Tribune says the Bears could be in the running for another week one primetime gig. The New York/New Jersey Giants and Jets are both slated to host primetime home games in their new stadium the opening weekend, with the G-men on Sunday night and the Jets on Monday. The Bears are set to play @ the Giants, so Briggs puts his uncanny mathematical reasoning to work saying the Bears have a 1 in 8 chance of opening the new stadium under the bright lights of NBC for the second year in a row.

Of course, under that same logic, we have a 1 in 8 chance of playing the Lions on Turkey Day, the Bills in Toronto and the Packers in their hideous throwback jerseys.

To tide you over until the full schedule is released in April, here are the Bears’ 2010 home and away opponents. I also threw in my mega-early spreads:

Home:
  • Eagles (-3)
  • Redskins (+6)
  • Patriots (-6)
  • Jets (-4)
  • Seahawks (+3)
  • Vikings (-6)
  • Packers (-3)
  • Lions (+7)
Away:
  • Cowboys (-6)
  • Giants (-4)
  • Bills (+2)
  • Dolphins (e)
  • Panthers (+3)
  • Vikings (-9)
  • Packers (-7)
  • Lions (+4)
