Marc Bulger will not be Jay Cutler’s backup

We can eliminate another potential veteran backup QB for the Bears.

On Wednesday, Marc Bulger– considered a sensible backup option to Jay Cutler – signed on with the Ravens to hold a clipboard for starter, Joe Flacco. The deal is reportedly worth nearly $4 million for one year, which the Chicago Tribune reports is likely out of the Bears’ price range.

Throw in Trent Green, who preferred to stay retired rather than play for Mike Martz again, and the Bears’ options for a veteran backup are dwindling.

Josh McCown, who played for Martz in Detroit, is currently on the roster of the Hartford Colonials of the UFL. The McCaskeys are tight, but if we can’t outbid a UFL team for a former NFL QB’s services…

If they go the unrestricted free agent route, Jerry Angelo could choose from these ringers: Marc Brunell, Todd Collins, Dante Culpepper, Patrick Ramsey or Andrew Walter. (Notice I did not include JaMarcus Russell.)

In other news…

The Bears wrapped up off-season OTAs. And Brian Urlacher missed it to pursue an acting career.

Alex Brown was escorted out of Halas Hall today by Bears security for trying to say hi to his old teammates. Or at least that’s what he tweeted.
