Urlacher Stays on the Sideline with Calf Injury

It was another day on the sidelines for MLB Brian Urlacher, as ESPN reports that the calf injury that forced him to sit on Tuesday did the same today.

Bears middle linebacker Brian Urlacher remains sidelined with a left calf strain, casting doubt on his availability for Saturday’s game against Arizona. Urlacher has not practiced for three straight days after suffering the injury early in the first quarter of Saturday’s contest versus Oakland. “He’s been around a long time and we love him and all that, but right now he’s not ready to go,” Bears head coach Lovie Smith said. “But in time, he will be [ready]. Nothing serious with him, but we never put any players out there until they feel like they can play up to their potential. We’re not quite there right now, but we’ll get there in time.” Wide receiver Earl Bennett (hamstring) and quarterback Caleb Hanie (shoulder sprain) also missed practice Wednesday, but they were seen running on the side with the training staff. Right guard Lance Louis, who’s been bothered in recent weeks by a sore ankle, was participating on individual offensive line drills during the portion of practice open to the media.
