Bears will look to bring back some players released for practice squad

The National Football Post says that the Bears will look to get some players released on Saturday back on the practice squad as early as Sunday.

The Chicago Bears are expected to try to re-sign a handful of offensive linemen to the practice squad following final cuts.

Guard/center Edwin Williams, guard/tackle James Marten and tackle Levi Horn are players the Bears may work to develop on the eight-man practice squad, which can be formed beginning Sunday.

They were among the final cuts made today. The team is working to bring along younger offensive linemen and that was the motivating factor behind keeping Johan Asiata, an undrafted free agent in 2009, over veteran Josh Beekman, who started 20 games the last two seasons at left guard.

The Bears terminated the contract of veteran tight end Richard Angulo and waived the following players: safety Al Afalava, wide receiver Freddie Barnes, cornerback Cornelius Brown, defensive end Jarron Gilbert, wide receiver Juaquin Iglesias, quarterback Dan LeFevour, linebacker Kevin Malast, wide receiver Greg Mathews, safety Quentin Scott, linebackers Tim Shaw and Kelvin Smith, cornerback Woodny Turenne, defensive end Barry Turner, center Tim Walter, safety Aaron Webster, fullback Eddie Williams and defensive end Mick Williams.
