Bears-Panthers inactives

Corey “put me in the game coach” Wootton gets his first real NFL try today in Carolina

BEARS: Jay Cutler (concussion), Major Wright (hamstring), Chris Williams (hamstring) due to injuries.  Recently acquired DE Charles Grant, rookie CB Joshua Moore, RB Kahlil Bell, TE Desmond Clark, and DT Marcus Harrison.  Rookie fourth round draft pick from Northwestern, DE Corey Wootton, will suit up in hopes of his first NFL action in the Regular Season today.  Let’s see if he receives any playing time on the defensive line, I think he’s earned it.

New BEARS starters : Changing up the right side of the offensive line – Edwin Williams at right guard for Lance Louis.  J’Marcus Webb at right tackle for Kevin Shaffer.  Tim Jennings will start ahead of Zackary Bowman for the second consecutive week.  I agree with all three moves.  Change is good.  Out with the old, in with the new.  Plus, it’s good to keep the line fresh, having a rotation like a hockey line change.  It’s going to be HOT in Carolina today.

PANTHERS: WR Steve Smith (ankle), OT Jeff Otah (knee), S Sherrod Martin (concussion), and former Bear LB Jamar Williams (neck) will be all out of action due to injuries.  Williams was the player traded for Chris Harris.  Martin was the player expected to replace Harris.  Otah was the player the Bears passed up on for Chris Williams in the 1st round of the ’08 draft.  Steve Smith is the player that was mainly responsible for the Bears early exit in the Divisional round of the ’05 Playoffs.  He put on a clinic at Soldier that day.
