Vikings players hate Brad Childress

Could the Vikings go all "Varsity Blues" on the Bears this weekend?

Once upon a time, Seth Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times covered the Vikings. He used his past connections to get some tasty nuggets from a few current Vikings who despise their coach, Brad Childress.

In the days leading up to the team’s latest biggest game vs. the Bears, Vikings players were brutally honest about the coach that’s led them to a 3-5 record:

”We know that Childress doesn’t have our backs, so why should we have his?” one player said. ”We’re playing for us, and we’re winning despite him.”

”As much as I hate Childress,” another player said, ”I will keep playing.”

I’m not sure what all this rage means for the Bears this weekend. If the Vikings get behind early, would they pack it in? Or would their “win-for-the-guy-next-to-you” mantra carry them to new heights, like the kids in the movie Varsity Blues.

If you haven’t seen it, a high school team mutinys against their asshole coach at halftime of the season’s biggest game, then proceeds to make a miraculous comeback thanks to a bag of trick plays you couldn’t draw up in the dirt.
