Richard Dent to Serve as Honorary Captain for the Bears Sunday

The Bears hope Richard Dent can help them shuffle to the Super Bowl. The legendary defensive end and MVP of Super Bowl XX will serve as an honorary captain when the Bears host the rival Green Bay Packers in the NFC championship game Sunday.

Dent holds the franchise record for sacks, recording 124.5 over two stints and 12 seasons with Chicago. That included a club-record 17.5 in 1984 and 17 a year later, when the Bears mauled their way to a 15-1 record and their lone Super Bowl victory.

In the championship game against New England, Dent recorded 1 1/2 sacks and forced two fumbles as the Bears capped one of the most spectacular seasons in league history by pounding the Patriots 46-10.
