The son of former Bears coach Mike Ditka was recently charged with drunken driving, and the charge was upgraded to a felony because of two previous drunken-driving charges in Lake County, multiple media outlets reported. Records obtained by the Chicago Tribune show that this is at least the fourth DUI arrest for Ditka’s son.
Michael P. Ditka, 49, was arrested April 20 in a car in the parking lot of his Deerfield apartment complex after a police officer found him with the car running, the Tribune reported. He struggled with a field sobriety test and his blood alcohol level was found to be 0.189, more than double thee legal limit of 0.08 in Illinois, he was charged with driving under the influence, but Ditka claimed that he wasn’t driving the car and has filed motions challenging the charge.
