Could the Bears Land Bengals WR Chad Ochocinco?

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Bears are determined to reel in a big wide receiver and he “wouldn’t completely dismiss the possibility” of Chad Ochocinco landing in Chicago this summer. Ochocinco counts as a big receiver in comparison to the Bears’ collection of small, quicker receivers.

Other possibilities are tantalizing because they could weaken one of their division rivals. They could lure away the Vikings’ Sidney Rice with a big free agent contract offer or loot the Packers roster by signing physical receiver James Jones.

I would really like the jones move. Weaken the pack and greatly improve ourselves. Plus you know he would be extra motivated in those bears/packers divisional games and maybe NFC championship. Not as high on ocho cinco or sidney rice. Ocho getting old and would be involved in to much media drama as always words louder than his play and Sidney although real good could have headaches/hip probs to deal with. I would be really happy with jones, floyd or plax. Any of those three could step in and dominate.

I believe Sidney will be healthy, so I’d take a chance on him because he’s such a true deep ball threat. A go-getter when the jump ball is in play. Big fan of him since his days at South Carolina. What a talent.

James Jones is going to put up legit #1 WR numbers this season wherever he plays, whether it be Green Bay or Chicago. He’s one of the best yards after catch receivers in the NFL.

Jones and Rice, along with Floyd, have yet to reach their prime. Sky’s the limit with all three – the best is yet to come. All have what it takes from a skill perspective to become a go-to wideout in the Chi.

Even Plax would make sense in the Chi city. I’m convinced he wouldn’t miss a beat and could come in and contribute immensely right away.

All in all, with that said, I like the state of our receiver position if we don’t take a chance on any of the aforementioned pass catchers.

Johnny Knox is a speedster, a flat out stud. Windy City Flyer gets his and is only going to improve. Earl Bennett dropped, what, one ball last year, if that? Olsen is decent and Forte is the man receiving the rock.

Would feel better if we could add a tall WR to the mix, I thought DA was going to be the guy, but I think we’re fine and will see much progression from Jay and everyone under Martz’s system in ’11-12. It will be interesting to see how the red zone offense develops. We need to cash in more from inside the 20. With the OL upgraded, I can see us running in for more scores down by the goal.
