Bears Reach Terms with Six Undrafted Free Agents

TE Andre Smith, Virginia Tech – 2009: Played 344 snaps at tight end during the 12 regular season games … His 198 special team plays were the second-most on the team … Started on the extra point and field goal team, the extra point and field goal block team, the punt team and the kickoff return unit … Caught three passes for 27 yards and a touchdown … Led the tight ends with 21 knockdown blocks

OC J.C. Brignone, Mississippi State – Has played in 35 of a possible 37 games during his Mississippi State career on the offensive line, starting 24 times … Last season, started all 12 games at center … In 2008, Started 11 games at center and one at offensive guard … After practicing on both sides of the ball during his redshirt freshman season, he settled in at offensive guard … Came to Starkville as a standout two-way prep lineman, initially in the Mississippi High School ranks and then in Georgia when Hurricane Katrina displaced his family for his senior campaign.

OC Alex Linnenkohl, Oregon State – Alex has quietly developed into one of the top centers in the country … a postseason honors candidate after earning Pac-10 Conference Honorable Mention in 2009 … Rimington Award candidate … 26 consecutive starts after taking over the position from current Indianapolis Colts starter Kyle DeVan … co-team captain.

DT Corbin Bryant, Northwestern – Defensive tackle who started 35 career games, while developing into an honorable mention all-conference performer … Invited and played in 2011 NFL Players Association All-Star game (Texas vs. Nation), where he recorded a sack and two tackles … Bounced back from a knee injury in 2008 (vs. Michigan) with a solid season in 2009 … Got his feet wet his freshman year before suffering a broken leg early in the season … Received a medical hardship for 2006 … Two-year member of NU’s 10-player Leadership Council … 2010 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team@ honoree.

LB Mario Addison, Troy – Scouts and advisors for number of different NFL teams were in Troy Friday afternoon to take a look at what Trojan senior football players had to offer at the school’s Pro Day. While all eyes were on wide receiver Jerrel Jernigan to begin with, there were a number of players that turned some heads during the two hour event. Leading both the Trojans and scouts through the day was Troy strength and conditioning coach, Richard Shaughnessy. Players who also helped their causes to make it to the next level were fellow seniors, Mario Addison, Jason Bruce and DuJuan Harris.

S Dom DeCicco, Pittsburgh – The top safety in the Big East and one of the finest nationally…has been described by defensive coordinator Phil Bennett as “a linebacker playing defensive back” because of DeCicco’s size and appetite for contact…entering his third year as Pitt’s starting strong safety, DeCicco is the unquestioned “quarterback” of the defense and makes all the calls…a ball hawk whether he is defending the run or pass…had seven interceptions over the 2008 and ’09 seasons.
