Forte, Tatupu Could Be Joining Forces

There is a mutual interest between the Bears and free agent linebacker Lofa Tatupu, according to a league source.

Tatupu has ties to the team because assistant general manager Tim Ruskell drafted Lofa out of Southern California in ’05 when Ruskell was the general manager of the Seahawks.

If the club does sign the former Trojan standout, he would have to play a new position – strong side linebacker.

The 28-year old ex-Seahawk is a three-time Pro Bowler.

This would be a very smart move. He could switch to strong side for a couple of years until Urlacher is done and then he can move back to the middle. Of course all provided that he can stay healthy…

  2. Russ Loede says:

Lofa’s transition to strong would be seamless. He could learn the strong side and be able to start Week 1 against Atlanta. Very instinctive linebacker with a nose for the pigskin.

I’d love to have Tatupu but I think Lovie is set on Nick Roach. Let’s see how this plays out

  4. Russ Loede says:

Roach is used to sharing time at SLB and contributing on special teams.
