Bears S Harris status uncertain Sunday vs. Panthers

Bears starting strong safety Chris Harris, who was sidelined the last two contests with a hamstring injury, appeared en route to play Sunday after going through a full practice Wednesday.  However, his availability is up in the air again because he sat out Thursday’s practice according to Vaughn McClure of the Chicago Tribune.

“You’re always concerned when a guy misses a Thursday practice,” coach Lovie Smith said. “But we have a little bit of time. We have other guys to play if he can’t go, but hopefully he’ll be able to.”

Smith said Harris was “a little sore” after Wednesday’s session.

Quote to note: “It’ll be crucial (getting Harris back),” linebacker Lance Briggs said. “He’s a guy who helps us go. He’s a general back there, and I look at him in the same respect that I looked at Mike Brown when he was here. He’s a playmaker and he’s a guy we need on the field.”

  1. […] Add the fact that Rod Marinelli’s unit will be without starting strong safety Chris Harris (hamstring), you can make a case for Carolina being able to impose their will on the ground against Chicago.  […]
