Bears wide receiver Earl Bennett, who took a helmet to his chest in the Big Easy in Week two, may miss several more contests.
Bennett didn’t play in the 27-17 loss to the Packers last Sunday because of what the team has described as a chest injury, and indications are he’s also likely to be on the sidelines for this weekend’s clash against the Panthers and Week five’s Monday night showdown in the Motor City against the division rival Lions.
The injury, though, isn’t expected to be a season ender.
The team’s primary slot receiver, Bennett was injured when Saints safety Roman Harper nailed him in the chest with his helmet at the end of a nine-yard catch. In the season opener, Jay Cutler’s teammate at Vanderbilt had two receptions for 11 yards.
