The Bears have updated the injury status of wide receiver Johnny Knox.
“He has been in surgery to stabilize his vertebrae,” Bears head coach Lovie Smith said. “He’s out, of course, this year. But just looking to the future, it looks bright for him, of course, to play and to get back out there. So we’re encouraged by that.”
According to a league source, Knox cracked a facet joint, which help keep the spinal column stable. If surgery is successful, he should be recovered within three to four months, according to the source.
Knox finished the season with 37 catches for 727 yards and two touchdowns. He also returned 15 kickoffs for 397 yards.
