Bears Sign OL Edwin Williams to a Two-Year Contract Extension

The Chicago Bears announced the signing of offensive lineman Edwin Williams to a two-year contract extension.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Originally signed by the Washington Redskins as an undrafted free agent out of Maryland in 2009, Williams started two of three games he appeared in as a rookie. Waived by the Redskins during the 2010 preseason, Williams was claimed by the Bears and started three of five games last season.

Williams has started the last six games and is playing under a one-year, exclusive rights free agent tender worth $525,000 in base salary. The 6-foot-3, 315-pound Williams was scheduled to be a restricted free agent in the offseason.
