Bears to Release DT Anthony Adams

The Bears plan to release veteran defensive tackle Anthony Adams, Jeff Dickerson and Michael C. Wright of ESPN Chicago report.

A 2003 second-round pick out of Penn State by the San Francisco 49ers, Adams has spent the last five seasons of his career with the Bears, starting 40 of 63 games and totaling 144 tackles and 4.5 sacks.

Adams was scheduled to earn $1.9 million with a $100,000 workout bonus and his release would save $2 million in 2012 cap space.
