“Experts” Thoughts

SourceThe buzz about the Bears this season is strong, panelists on Monday morning’s Bears Roundtable on WSCR-AM 670 agreed, and the biggest difference will be the offense.

“I think they’re going to run the ball like crazy,” Matt Bowen of the Chicago Tribune said. “That’s coach (Mike) Tice. ’’

“They have to,” the Tribune’s Brad Biggs agreed. “It’s important to protect the defense. Run the ball. Run the clock.

“We’re seeing a transition from a defensive team to an offensive team.”

“That’s how you win in the NFL,” the Score’s Zach Zaidman said. “They have to score points.”

Well check out these geniuses. Obviously, these guys have all the answers to the Bears’ successes for 2012. Run the ball? Great call because that is what all the successful teams in today’s NFL landscape are doing. Ground and pound all the way. It’s not like rules in the game are more set up for passing offenses to succeed these days anyway. No really. Good call. Lets run the ball as that has made the Bears so successful over the past decade.

You would think working for a large publication such as the Trib these jokers would have to have some sort of knowledge about professional football. Seriously? Run the ball more? What the hell are you taking about!?! The NFL is set up to allow passing offenses to succeed with rules in place to protect the QB and punish DBs for even the slightest infractions. Look at teams like New England, New Orleans and even the god damn Packers. These teams are good because they are able to make it rain early and often. If the Bears move to a more pass proficient offense then they will have an edge on the competition due to their stout defense…something those aforementioned teams currently do not possess. It seems Phil Emery gets the idea of what make an offense good in today’s NFL but these “expert” writers are obviously too hung up on Curtis Enis’ hall of fame career to change their ways.

Finally, what the hell is going on at the end of this quote? Dynamite drop in there, Zaidman. That broadcast school is really paying off for you.
