Lovie was none too impressed with his club’s performance against the Broncos and rightfully so. The Bears got smoked by Denver with only 1 or 2 players actually having a decent game. Lovie holds his team in a much higher regard than how they handled themselves out on that field last Thursday. Expect the team ready to play against Washington on Saturday.
I was having some (read: enough to almost make us miss our 3:30pm tee-time on Sunday) beers with my friends on Saturday and we were discussing the Urlacher saga when it was brought to my attention that the Bears went out and added some LB depth by signing two no name future practice squaders. This move signifies that the Bears are a tad more worried about Urlacher than they were leading on. If Brian was truly healthy then they would not need to bring in the extra depth. On top of that, former 3rd stringer J.T. Thomas was taking reps with the 1st side on Sunday.
The club was working out Chris Williams a lot more at LT over the weekend. While the battle for the left tackle position is still up for grabs, I am glad to see the Bears are taking J’Marcus Webb off that field for a bit. I’m sure there is a position open in the local Bourbonnais’ Denny’s that he can take because this guy sure as hell shouldn’t be playing football. Not saying Chris Williams is a huge upgrade, though. This battle is really about choosing the least worst player on the line and that is not a position the Bears want to be in. Unfortunately, with Emery’s blatant disregard for upgrades in the trenches, this is an issue that will have to wait until next season.
