Jay Cutler Excited to Go Up Against Packers Defense Thursday

The Bears will play the Packers Thursday night and Chicago quarterback Jay Cutler seems eager to play against their defense.

With receivers Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery at his disposal, Cutler senses a whole different vibe in the locker room according to Vaughn McClure of the Chicago Tribune.

“I think there’s a big difference in what we’re doing offensively,” Cutler said Tuesday. “This is a totally different scheme and mentality and direction that we’re going offensively. There would be no advantage for them watching tape of last year of what we did. It’s totally different. I think they understand that.”

In Sunday’s 41-21 season-opening win over the Colts, the Bears’ offense displayed great potential. The Bears piled up 428 total yards as Cutler passed for 333. Marshall, who was targeted 15 times, caught nine passes for 119 yards and a score. The rookie Jeffery caught three passes for 80 yards, including a 42-yard touchdown off a dart from Cutler.

Asked whether he thought the Packers would try to get physical with the Bears’ big receivers, Cutler replied, “Good luck.”
