Bears Can Lovie Smith a Day After Team Misses Postseason

The Bears have fired Head Coach Lovie Smith this morning one day after missing the playoffs. The Bears started this season 7-1 and did not make the post season for the fifth time in six seasons.

Smith, who led the Bears to the Super Bowl after the 2006 season, was 81-63 over eight regular seasons and was 3-3 in the playoffs.

Smith was under contract through 2013, and general manager Phil Emery did not speak to the coach in contract talks on an extension during the season.

It was NINE seasons, not eight, which means 81 wins, divided by 9 seasons equals 9 wins a year. Good enough reason to fire him.

Hey Lovie — can you take all of your mistakes with you?
