Bears Pickup Former Jaguars Guard/Tackle Eben Britton

The Bears have signed Eben Britton, a second-round draft pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2009, to a one-year contract, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.

While the Bears list Britton as a guard and tackle, the team already has the competition it desires at right tackle with J’Marcus Webb and Jonathan Scott, so chances are Britton will be used on the interior. Britton recently worked out for the Seattle Seahawks.

Britton, 6-6, 308 pounds, was benched by the Jaguars after five starts at left guard last season. He started 15 games as a rookie in 2009 and has 15 additional starts since then with 23 at right tackle and seven at left guard.
