The Bears on Thursday announced those two hires, defensive line coach Paul Pasqualoni and linebackers coach Reggie Herring, Rich Campbell of the Chicago Tribune reports .
Pasqualoni, 64, coached a total of six seasons with the Dallas Cowboys and Miami Dolphins from 2005-2010, with defensive coordinator, defensive line coach and linebackers coach among his titles.
Herring, 54, has coached linebackers for eight combined seasons with the Houston Texans and Cowboys. He had two stints with the Texans (2011-13 and 2002-03), and he coached the Cowboys’ linebackers from 2008-10.
The Bears made those two coaching changes after setting franchise records with 6,313 total yards allowed and 6.2 yards allowed per play. Their defense struggled because of injuries, inexperience, discontinuity and underachievement. General manager Phil Emery has stated his offseason mission is to find to make the defense more dynamic and disruptive.
