Bears first-round draft pick linebacker Leonard Floyd was carted off the practice field Thursday according to Rich Campbell of the Chicago Tribune.
There were no immediate updates about the nature or severity of the injury. Head coach John Fox is scheduled to address the media after practice but has the reputation of being notoriously tight-lipped about injuries and other personnel matters.
The No.9-overall pick this May out of the University of Georgia, Floyd is being counted on to bolster a Bears pass rush that recorded only 35 sacks in 2015. Losing him for any amount of time would be a tremendous blow to the defense-and to the Bears’ hopes of competing for a playoff spot in 2016.
