The Chicago Bears versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Injury Report Review

By Bryan Dietzler

Here is a look at Friday’s injury report for the Chicago Bears and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and how each injury may impact the game:

Running back Benny Cunningham hasn’t practiced all week due to an ankle issue and is doubtful for the game. It’s a good bet he will not play Sunday.

Free safety Adrian Amos had personal issues this week but is set to play in a reserve role at free safety.

Cornerback Prince Amukamara has been nursing an ankle injury and has seen limited practice time. He is questionable for Sunday’s game.

Starting running back Jordan Howard has a shoulder injury and has been limited in practice all week. It appears he will play in this game, but we may see more of Tarik Cohen to help relieve Howard.

Linebacker Christian Jones has been having back problems which have limited him in practice. The Bears will need him in on the sideline for depth at the linebacker position with all the injuries they have suffered. Expect him to suit up Sunday.

Guard Kyle Long is still trying to get back from his ongoing ankle injury. He was limited in practice this week but is not going to play. He didn’t even travel with the team to Tampa. His continued absence is disturbing as the timetable for his return continues to be unknown.

Wide receiver Joshua Bellamy has an ankle injury which has limited him in practice the last two days of the week. The Bears need all-hands-on-deck at the receiver position so if Bellamy misses time that will hurt the Bears a lot.

Safety Deon Bush has been suffering from a hamstring injury and even though he was limited in practice Wednesday and Thursday, he did not practice Friday. He will be a game-time decision but it’s likely he will sit out Sunday’s game until he’s fully healed.

It’s been reported that outside linebacker Leonard Floyd has a bit of back soreness. It looks like he will play but this is a little concerning. Hopefully, it doesn’t limit him against Tampa.

Finally, wide receiver Markus Wheaton is still having issues with his pinkie finger and was limited all week. He is questionable for Sunday’s game but the Bears need him to play. Wheaton might just be their new number one wide receiver.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Injuries

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers listed the following on their injury report:

Middle linebacker Kwon Alexander was ill and limited earlier in the week but practiced fully on Friday. He is listed as questionable but will play. Alexander is, perhaps their most important leader on defense and will be someone the Bears need to game plan for.

Center/Right guard Evan Smith didn’t practice on Thursday and was limited Friday. He is listed as questionable for the game Sunday. He is a backup.

Linebacker Devante Bond is going to be out with a knee injury. He is a backup strong side linebacker.
