Carimi’s New Best Friend
Mike Tice is jumping for joy. Better yet, Jay Cutler is having a field day.
Today, the Bears have signed a pair of 6-foot-3 pass catchers, two key rookie defenders, and now the answer at right tackle.
According to ESPN Chicago, the Bears have signed offensive lineman Gabe Carimi to a four-year contract. The deal is worth $7 million, with a signing bonus of $3.6 million.
The 29th overall pick from Wisconsin, Carimi is projected as an NFL-ready starter for the next decade:
“I think the kid is a plug-and-play right tackle,” NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock wrote before the draft. “Throw him in there and he’s a starter on Day 1. And he’s a starter for the next 10 years. He’s got a little attitude and there’s something tough about him. He’s a good football player.”
Now all the Bears’ 2011 draft picks have come to terms.
