Can Gholston Revive His Career In Chicago?
Couldn’t hit a homerun on Jason Babin (Eagles), so they’re going for a base hit on Vernon Gholston.
According to a league source, the Bears are ready to bring in Jets’ 2008 sixth overall draft pick, Vernon Gholston.
Gholston, a defensive end coming out of Ohio State, was always playing out of position in the Big Apple.
A switch from the 3-4 defense to the 4-3 system could pay big dividends for the 25-year old former Buckeye.
Certainly, this would be a bargain acquisition for the Bears, who are always looking to upgrade the pass rush. It’s a good idea to pursue Vernon, considering we need more linemen to get to the passer outside of Julius Peppers.
Roach coming back: According to an NFL source, the Bears have inked linebacker Nick Roach to a two-year deal, worth $4 million. Roach will be the team’s starting strong side ‘backer. Roach also will contribute on special teams.
