The Chicago Bears announced that they and interim general manager Tim Ruskell have mutually agreed to part ways.
Ruskell, 55, joined the Bears as their Director of Player Personnel in 2010 after serving as the Seattle Seahawks general manager from 2005 through his exit late in the 2009 season when the Seahawks informed him that his contract was not going to be extended.
Ruskell and former Bears general manager Jerry Angelo worked together in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ front office from 1987 through 2001. Ruskell had been serving as the team’s interim general manager following the firing of Angelo and had been an in-house candidate for the full-time position.
The Bears have hired Phil Emery to replace Angelo and will introduce him at a Monday afternoon press conference at Halas Hall.
