Could Nick Foles Be the Bears Starter at QB by Default in 2021?

Don’t look now, but the Bears may already have their 2021 quarterback on their roster.

That quarterback is Nick Foles, who last season struggled, going 2-5 as a starter, throwing for 10 touchdowns and 8 picks with a QB rating of just 80.8.

One thing that Foles and the Bears have going for them is the fact that he’s got a very affordable salary cap number of $6.7 million in 2021, making him a candidate to be the starter for the Bears to begin the season.

It is sounding more and more like Mitch Trubisky won’t be back, as the team has until March 17th to ink him before free agency starts, and there’s been little to no movement from the Bears and Trubisky’s agent to come to a new deal.

There’s a couple options in free agency for the Bears, the biggest being Deshaun Watson of the Texans, who is the marquee player that teams would do just about anything to acquire.

Things got interesting this last week when Seahawks franchise quarterback Russell Wilson reportedly expressed how unhappy he was with the team, and that he’d like to be traded, again something that has not been proven as fact.

The Bears would love to get Wilson, but until the quarterback says he wants out, he’s going to belong to the Seahawks.

As far as Foles goes, he many think that the Bears want to keep him on the roster simply due to his affordability and the fact his cap number is not going to hurt the team.

It makes Foles a player that is affordable, and likely right now the best option at QB for the Bears when 2021 starts.

Geez, Foles is NOT the bad guy here. In reality he’s a darn good person.
